This husband and wife team formed motocross as we know it today! Both were true constants as head referee and scorekeeper for many years while Manitoba was under CMA affiliation. Ed led tech inspection prior to every event, checking both bike and helmet for proper certification and Phyllis ensured scoring was always executed and results were always up and ready. Ed and Phyllis were the CMA region reps, assisting in the development for many officials to follow and were critical to the foundation of our sport in Manitoba.

A true legend of the Manitoba motocross community, Albert “Moto” van Huizen dedicated countless years to rider safety and well-being. His care extended beyond race day, following up with injured riders through calls, visits, and his trademark kindness. The Moto Medic made every racer feel like family.

Driven by passion, he invested his own time and money into better equipment and care. His compassion and service set a standard few could match. Albert’s legacy lives on in every rider he helped and every race he supported.

Ken Bentley : recipient of the contributor award

We want to express our deepest gratitude to Ken for his many years of dedication to the sport and his leadership with 204 Grassroots Motocross. Under his guidance, the series continued through the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, when many provinces could not host races.

Ken’s passion began in 1975 in Manitoba, and he later served as President of the Manitoba Motocross Association in the early 2000s. His impact has been extraordinary, inspiring and mentoring countless riders. We celebrate his achievements and lasting influence on the sport we all love so deeply.
