2021 Season

After gathering as much information as we were able, we believe it is in the best interest of our sport to move forward with our Covid race schedule beginning officially in July.  We will be sure to keep everyone as up-to-date as possible as we move closer to the gate drop.

Thank you for your patience and understanding

Lawrence and one of his daughters, Michaela

Lawrence and one of his daughters, Michaela

One of our moto brothers and his family are going through a difficult time as of late. Lawrence Hamm is in a fight with cancer and is currently undergoing both chemotherapy and radiation to put a stop to this horrible disease. A link is available to sign up to help with meals as the treatment will be taking a lot of time and energy from the entire family. We're sure there is a great deal of flexibility in how you decide to help be it gift cards or home cooked meals or pre made items.

Please find below the information that came our way:

Hello friends, colleagues, family of Lawrence,

Meal Train Details

You’re receiving this invitation because your life has intersected with Lawrence and his family in some way, be it through school, recreation, family relationships or otherwise. No doubt your life has been made better by Lawrence’s welcoming smile and his warm enthusiasm.

Many of you have already reached out in kindness to the family as they begin this journey of cancer treatments. In an effort to coordinate the various groups that care for them, I am organizing an online calendar through Meal Train. You can access this calendar through the link and sign up to bring the family a meal. All the details are in the link below.

Please feel free to pass this invitation on to anyone who might be interested. I will keep adding opportunities to the calendar so keep checking. Any questions, feel free to email me at hilda.wiebe@me.com

Sincerely, Hilda Wiebe

(A very grateful parent who has benefited from Lawrence’s leadership at WMEMS)

In memory of Tanya Neufeld

Tanya-05.png

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Tanya Neufeld who left us all too soon at the young age of 43 on February 14, 2021.

If you are new to our motocross community you may not have had the privilege of meeting this fiery woman, who for many years was the Manitoba Motocross Race Director and an imperative part of the growth of the Manitoba Motocross scene.

Tanya leaves behind many beloved family members including her husband Dale and most importantly, her daughter Alexis who also lost her father Jeff Mullen at a very young age.

Our motocross community has endured much heart ache over the years on and off the track, and although we're competitors on the track, as a community, as a family we continue to come together to support one another. Many years ago we wrapped Tanya and Alexis with love and support following the loss of Jeff and we now wrap Alexis with our community's love and support.

May we take the opportunity in remembrance of Tanya to allow and enable Alexis to realize her hopes, dreams and aspirations as she charts a path forward for herself after an unimaginable loss, a future her Mother would be so proud of.

Tanya blessed many lives with her gift of love, humour and friendship. Let’s continue those blessings by supporting her daughter’s future.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been organized in memory of Tanya with proceeds going towards Alexis and her future. Please consider donating.

Welcome to 2021

We hope this introduction to the 2021 Grassroots Motocross season finds everyone in your family safe and ready for spring to arrive.  We have been busy in the background and you will be seeing regular updates now that we are able to provide some plans for the coming year.

Looking back at 2020…

We can feel a collective pride in what we were able to accomplish last summer, thanks to our promoters diligence and belief in our ability to pull off a series.  And all of the support staff-Robert and his Medic crew, Roger and the rest of the referee corps, and Stefan and Sydney for doing such excellent work with the sign in and transponders.  You all stepped up and became part of a new direction and we were able to collectively run a tremendously efficient race day.
