Series Schedule: Round 3 Grunthal Mx Update

Due to a scheduling conflict within the Grunthal Park, the June 4 & 5 weekend, Round 3 at Grunthal MX will be cancelled and there will not be a rescheduled date for the 2022 season.

This will leave us with 4 rounds in each of the spring and summer series with the final round of the spring series being Morden on July 23/24. Every attempt was made to re-schedule but in the end we could not find a way to work this out and last night the call was made to not replace the event.

The deadline for registration for Altona has been extended to 5 pm Saturday.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Round 1 Reflections

Thank you

  • A big thank you to the Burmey family for an amazing racetrack. No amount of time, effort and money were spared to create a track that actually needed water for the 2nd half of the race. Hard to believe considering the weather this spring.

  • Thank you to the parents of the 50cc and little ladies classes for their assistance in getting their kids to the mini bike track at the crack of dawn to run the races.

  • Thanks to Marvin Penner for stepping up and contributing as a referee - he did a fantastic job.

  • Thanks to the 16-24 class and plus 25 classes for being on time to staging to start the day! Starting on time is key to the race day finishing on time.

  • Thanks to all of the classes for being on time to staging as this ultimately results in an incredibly efficient race day.

  • Thanks to everyone for being on time for our first riders meeting in 3 years - although they won’t take long there will always be some important reminders for the race day. And this gathering also provides the opportunity for some fellowship with the Chapel that follows immediately after the meeting.

Lessons Learned

The biggest lesson learned from our first race is that it is absolutely critical that every rider must race to the checkered flag. Do NOT pull off the track until you get a checkered flag. Mistakes will happen with the finish flagger for one reason or another and it has happened at the highest levels of our sport where a rider pulls off thinking they got the checkered flag but in fact they did not, and had to hop back into the race!

Stay tuned for details for the upcoming Round 2 at Moto Park X in Altona along with additional series news.

Directions

From Winnipeg:

Take the Transcanada Highway to MB-12S. The track is approximately 25 minutes South of Steinbach (58km from the MB-12S exit). The turnoff is EXACTLY 4km past the green “ZHODA” sign. Turn right onto Franko Road (there are a few green electrical boxes on your left) and drive 3.3km. The track will be on your left. You cannot see the track from the road but you can see a big, white shop. We will try to have some kind of markers out on practice days on MB-12S and Franko Road.

GARBAGE BAGS

The promoters very much appreciated how everyone brought their own garbage bags and took their garbage with them on the way home.  This made a huge difference to the promoters and their clean up regime, so if we could continue with this practice for 2022 and beyond the promoters would be grateful for the courtesy.  Thank you.
